Our Story & Our Fleet
About Ketchikan Wild
Born From a Passion for Alaska
Some places leave an impression that stays with you long after you’ve returned home. For me, Alaska has always been one of those places.
I grew up in Montana and have spent much of my adult life fishing and exploring Alaska. Over the years, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for its spectacular scenery, incredible fishing, remarkable wildlife, and, perhaps most importantly, its people.
What began as a lifelong passion eventually became Hali-Time Alaska Fishing Charters, a business built around sharing the excitement of Alaska fishing with others. The positive feedback from our guests and growing interest in our charters inspired the next step: Ketchikan Wild, bringing together private fishing charters and scenic boat tours so more visitors can experience Southeast Alaska.
More Than a Boat Tour
Having traveled on cruise ships myself, I understand how quickly a port visit can pass. You arrive in a remarkable destination, spend a few hours ashore, and before you know it, you’re sailing away again.
I wanted to create something different. Our goal is to help visitors make the most of their time in Ketchikan. Rather than joining a large group tour, our guests enjoy a private experience with the flexibility to focus on what interests them most, whether that means catching an Alaska salmon, watching for wildlife, or simply taking in the scenery.
More to Explore
An Experience Worth Remembering
For guests who choose to spend more time in Alaska, longer charters offer an opportunity to venture farther and discover more. My hope is that every guest leaves with a lifetime of photographs, stories, and memories, and perhaps a desire to return someday to explore even more.

Our Captains & Commitment
Our U.S. Coast Guard credentialed captains bring fishing experience from waters around the world and share a guest focused approach. Whether you’re a first time angler, a family with children, or an experienced fisherman, our goal is to provide a safe, personal, and memorable adventure.
At Ketchikan Wild, we don’t measure a successful charter solely by the number of fish caught or wildlife spotted. We measure it by the experience our guests take home. Every charter is private. Every group is different. And every charter is an opportunity to share something extraordinary about Alaska.

Meet Captain Jed
A lifelong outdoorsman with a passion for fishing, adventure, and sharing the beauty of Alaska.
Born and raised in Montana, Captain Jed has spent his life pursuing outdoor adventures. An avid fisherman and hunter, he has explored much of the American West, developing a deep appreciation for wild places, wildlife, and the experiences that come from spending time outdoors.
Jed's background extends well beyond the water. A former collegiate wrestler at Yale University, he later earned his law degree from the University of Montana and has practiced law since 1996. Along the way, he has owned and operated several businesses and is also a licensed pilot.
But the outdoors has always been one of his greatest passions.
As a U.S. Coast Guard-licensed captain, Jed brings his lifelong love of fishing, boating, and exploration to the spectacular waters of Southeast Alaska. Whether helping guests experience the excitement of catching their first salmon or halibut, watching marine wildlife, or simply enjoying the incredible scenery around Ketchikan, he takes pride in making every trip memorable.
For Jed, Ketchikan Wild is about more than fishing or sightseeing. It's an opportunity to share his enthusiasm for Alaska, introduce guests to extraordinary experiences, and create memories that will last long after their visit.
Come aboard and experience Southeast Alaska with Captain Jed.
What Our Guests Say
The best part of sharing Alaska is the experience our guests take home. Read about their time on the water.

Best Alaska experience ever! Captain Jed got us on all the fish (and squid!) and took us to see some gorgeous places. The boat was extremely comfortable and spacious. We highly recommend this business and Captain if you want to feel safe and experience the bounties of Alaska’s coast. We can’t wait for our next trip!

Incredible experience! Captain Jed was extremely knowledgeable, personable and made the entire experience on the Lotti Rose exciting. The scenery was beautiful, the fish were even better. Salmon, crab, shrimp, squid, black cod and halibut- a 49 pounder! I highly recommend Ketchikan Wild and hope to fish with Captain Jed again in the future. 100/10 stars.
